拥有 Xperia Play 的用家听到这个消息先别哭，对，就是没有官方 ICS 4.0 的升级。
昨日 Sony 在官方博客上正式公佈这个消息，为了提供一个一贯稳定的使用感觉，尤其在游戏的体验上（暗指内置的 Play Station Pocket ?），无法在 ICS 上取得好表现，所以索性不给予官方 ICS 4.0 的更新。
博客上更谈及这是经部分用家、工程师 、 甚至游戏厂商在其 ICS 测试版上得出的结果。由此可见，很大程度问题出于 4.0 上 Play 独有的 Play Station Pocket 无法有一个好表现，否则应该可与同期的 Xperia neo, arc 等一起更新。
与此同时，博客上公佈外国的 Xperia arc, neo, mini, mini pro, pro, active 及 Sony Ericsson Live with Walkman 将会开始收到ICS 4.0.4 的更新，而一众已更新 4.0.3 版本的手机 (Xperia arc S, neo V) 亦会下星期更新到 4.0.4；而 Xperia S 则计画在六月底升级，Xperia P 紧随其后，最后到 Xperia U 在第三季底更新。
在原生 2.3 的旧机器上，有很多都因硬件上的控制，无法升级 4.0。想不到连 Sony Ericsson 都会跳票。可幸的是，只有 Play 一部是在原先升级计画下被剔出。

In regards to Xperia PLAY, after extensive in house testing with our developer teams and working with our partners, we have concluded that a consistent and stable experience, particularly with gaming, cannot be guaranteed for this smartphone on Ice Cream Sandwich – therefore, we will not make the Android 4.0 upgrade available for Xperia PLAY.
